Situation

One of the major manufacturers in the electronics industry shipped its products to customers disassembled. Each part required a different packaging solution, so all too often the product would arrive at its final destination damaged or missing parts.

Solution

We developed a Kit Crate that would allow the client to send all the materials in a single shipment. A Kit Crate is a package that has several types of material inside, each separated by a divider. One piece of the product was very heavy and therefore required strong packaging. Other parts of the product were light and delicate, so we placed an inner drawer with foam inserts to secure these fragile components.

Outcome

We have been able to reduce the number of materials needed to package the products, saving the customer money by using less staff and materials. Additionally, the customer can now package all components of each product in a single crate, saving time and eliminating instances of missing components or accidental partial delivery.
